Celebrating Learning in the PYP

This semester, all elementary grade levels at MLS, Grades 1 through 6, hosted their Celebrations of Learning, showcasing the inquiry, growth, and understanding developed throughout their PYP units. Each class prepared presentations that highlighted the knowledge, skills, and conceptual understanding they gained over the term.

In the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Celebrations of Learning are a key component of the inquiry process. They give students the opportunity to take ownership of their learning, communicate their understanding to an authentic audience, and reflect on the concepts explored within their units. These experiences strengthen student agency and build important skills such as collaboration, communication, and critical thinking.

Having parents join us brought added value to each celebration. Family participation supports student confidence and reinforces the strong connection between home and school. It also allows parents to gain deeper insight into the learning process and the purpose behind each unit.

We thank our teachers and learners for their thoughtful preparation and for creating meaningful opportunities that reflect the ongoing learning in our PYP classrooms.
