As part of their current Who We Are Unit of Inquiry exploring body systems, our Grade 6 learners stepped beyond the classroom for an immersive learning experience at the Alfaisal University Simulation Centre. 🩺
During the visit, learners explored four realistic medical scenarios: a general ward, emergency room, scan room, and operating theatre. Taking on the roles of doctors, students participated actively in each simulation, applying their understanding of body systems to situations inspired by real medical practice.
The experience gave learners the opportunity to see how concepts explored through their PYP inquiry connect to the world around them. As they navigated each scenario, they practiced communication, collaboration, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making while gaining a deeper understanding of how knowledge of the human body is used in healthcare.
The professors at Alfaisal University guided learners throughout the experience, encouraging them to ask questions, think critically, and work together as they moved through each simulation.
Experiential learning opportunities like this bring inquiry to life, allowing students to move from learning about a concept to experiencing how that knowledge can be applied in authentic contexts.
