From Student Voice to Student Action
For the first time in MLS history, students have an official platform to represent their peers, bring forward ideas, and take an active role in shaping their school community.
The launch of the first MLS Student Council represents an important step in strengthening student agency, leadership, and ownership across the school.
At MLS, we believe learners should have opportunities to think independently, express their perspectives, listen to others, and turn ideas into meaningful action. The Student Council brings these skills into an authentic setting, where students learn that leadership is not simply about holding a title, it is about responsibility, collaboration, empathy, and service to others.
As MLS’s founding Student Council, this group also has a unique opportunity: to help define what student leadership will look like for the generations that follow.

That commitment to meaningful leadership is shared across the council. Vice-President Farida Mahmoud Bayoumy highlights empathy, creativity, and listening as essential to representing students effectively. Treasurer Tamara Bidaoui emphasizes responsibility, transparency, teamwork, and communication. Grade 10 Representative Lamar Al Sadiq hopes to create an environment where students feel comfortable sharing their ideas and concerns, while Grade 12 Representative Aljazi Hanaky sees leadership as an opportunity to listen, support others, and lead by example.
These are skills that extend far beyond school. By giving students meaningful opportunities to represent others, collaborate, make decisions, and contribute to their community, we are helping them experience leadership rather than simply learn about it.
Makers of the Future
At MLS, students are thinkers, contributors, creators, and increasingly, leaders.
Our first Student Council now has the opportunity to turn student voice into action, and to establish a legacy that future MLS student leaders can continue to build upon.
