Last week, MLS proudly celebrated Saudi Founding Day, transforming our campus into a vibrant tribute to the heritage, unity, and regional diversity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. As an international school rooted in Saudi Arabia, we are deeply proud to honor the traditions, history, and leadership that shape the nation we call home.
The celebration brought together our entire school community, from Toddlers to Grade 12, staff, and parents, in a day filled with pride, joy, and cultural immersion.
The morning began on the field with a Traditional Games Festival, where Elementary students proudly hosted traditional Saudi games representing different regions of the Kingdom. Parents joined us to observe and participate, creating a beautiful connection between generations. The playground was transformed with traditional décor, and it was heartwarming to see our soccer court covered in traditional carpets, adding warmth and authenticity to the atmosphere.
Our Early Years learners attended dressed in traditional clothing, participating in outdoor games alongside their parents. These shared experiences strengthened cultural understanding while creating meaningful family moments.
Inside the gym, the celebration continued with a powerful transformation titled “Saudi Regions Through Time.” Middle and High School students represented the Eastern, Central, Northern, Southern, and Western regions of Saudi Arabia through immersive majlis setups. Each space featured traditional fabrics, artifacts, storytelling, regional foods, and students welcoming guests in traditional roles.
The stage performances were a highlight of the day. Elementary boys performed traditional dances such as Dahha, Ardha, and Samiri, filling the gym with energy and pride. We were also honored to host a group of Saudi women who played traditional music, adding authenticity and depth to the experience. Students across grade levels rotated through the regional majalis, experiencing the richness and diversity of Saudi culture firsthand.
As an international school in Saudi Arabia, we believe it is our responsibility to honor and uplift the culture of the Kingdom. Celebrating Founding Day allows our students, both Saudi and international, to develop pride in Saudi identity, respect for cultural roots, and appreciation for leadership and unity.
We are proud to be part of a nation with such rich history and strong values, and we are grateful to our Arabic and Islamic Studies Department, our staff, students, and families for making this celebration meaningful and memorable.
