The Ribbon of Fire

02 Nov 2025

As October comes to a close, MLS honors Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a heartfelt tribute by one of our talented Grade 8 students, who wishes to be recognized by her initials, L.S.

L.S. wrote “The Ribbon of Fire” in memory of a beloved person who bravely fought breast cancer. Her words beautifully capture both the pain and the power behind the pink ribbon: a symbol of strength, resilience, and hope.

Shared during our Middle and High School assembly, the poem reminded us that every pink ribbon represents more than awareness, it carries the stories, struggles, and courage of those who have fought and continue to fight.

Breast Cancer Awareness is not just a month, but an ongoing call to compassion, unity, and remembrance. L.S.’s words inspire us to wear our ribbons not as decoration, but as symbols of empathy and endurance.

We are so proud of L.S. for using her voice and creativity to inspire others and close the month with such heartfelt meaning. 💕
